Website accessibility

I'm not sure this is the right board to be posting this to, so if anyone wants to move it, feel free!

I'm currently involved in testing websites for 3 different UK Organisations - the Usability Exchange, AbilityNet and Userite. the usability exchange is a website allowing companies to submit websites for testing, and list tasks for users to attempt and comment on. Testers get paid depending on the reliability and quality of feedback. Abilitynet pay about £20 per occasional test, and the same for Userite, which is a london based company.

A Disability Rights Commission formal investigation found a while ago that website accessibility was very poor generally, so I am making it my business to comment on it wherever I can, and get involved in accessibility testing wherever possible.

If anyone knows of any other UK based companies or organisations (or international ones accepting UK testers for that matter) I would very much like to know about them, and similarly, if anyone would consider joining any of those I've mentioned, the links are:

Usability Exchange: www.usabilityexchange.com
Abilitynet: www.abilitynet.org.uk (I think, follow links to accessibility and email with your enquiries)
Userite - Search in google for that one, can't remember the address, sorry!

It's a bit of extra cash for a lot of improvement in the websites we may all need to visit sometime, and it's not just big business that does it, but local authorities, government organisations and charities too.

Happy testing!

I've heard of Light speed market research, I do a lot of online surveys for them. Not heard of a light speed that does Internet accessibility etc. but I'll look into that. Thanks.

I've followed up on the Lightspeed panel's websiteevaluations, but you can only do that if you can join the US panel. I'm based in the UK so had to join the UK panel and they don't do it on there. Don't know why! Maybe I'll suggest that.

This topic belongs in geeks are us, as it has nothing to do with accessible electronic devices.
thanks,
